In a country with population of 1.3 billion, it is very difficult for the people to live with harmony, specially when they keep faith in different gods themselves. Still for almost 70 years now India has been successful in developing itself to become on of the major economies in the world. India happens to be very diverse in terms of the religion that people follow. Almost 80% if the Indian population is Hindu, 16% is Muslim and the rest of the percentage is divided among Sikhs, Jains Buddhists and many other religions.

Bhartia Janta Party (BJP), the political party which is in power right now, had their last term with many ups and downs. There were times when the Prime Minister was hailed for his vision and for being valiant, like the surgical strike and make in India. Whereas, there also have been events when the Prime Minister Modi hindered the growth of the nation and made a negative impact on the economy, creating problems for millions of people like Demonetisation was a complete failure even leading to deaths of some people. Even GST, which happens to be claimed as the reason for the slow down of economy by many businesses. Despite these events Modi was successful in getting more seats than ever in the Parliament. The oldest political party is on the verge of diminishing because of BJPs success. A possible reason for this is Modi’s interests in the promotion of Hinduism. The ideology of BJP and its top leaders to promote and protect Hinduism appeals to the conventional population of the majority religion of the nation. Giving them a massive vote bank.

Ever since BJP has been in the power there have been a series of incidents that are kind of evidence that shows the BJPs inclination towards the Hinduism, the majority Vote Bank of the nation. Also the events happen to be against the muslim community thus creating an environment of hate and imbalance. Cities that were named after the muslim leaders have been changed to Hindu Gods. Cow is considered as a holy animal in the Hindu religion, its meat - beef has been banned to trade and consume which impacted many businesses that were majorly run by the Muslim owners, moreover there has been many events of mob lynching and deaths because of carrying beef. The verdict was given on Ram Mandir or Babri Masjid, the question that created riots between Hindus and Muslims in Ayodhya and all over the nation in 1992, was also favourable to the Hindus, even though this was an independent judgment of supreme court, people still belle that the BJP government had influence over this decision. Most importantly the current Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi also happens to be accused to be involved in the Hindu - muslim riots of Gujarat in 2002, where many people died.

Hinduism as a practice has been going on with the RSS since its inception. The very concept of RSS is based on promoting Hinduism. RSS its an Indian right wing organisation, having its presence in almost all facets Indian society, they have approximately 50-60 lakh members. Most of the senior leaders from BJP have their roots from RSS.

However, when in 2019, the beloved prime minister of our nation Mr. Narendra Modi with help from his close aid Mr. Amit Shah and the support of the whole right wing created the “CAB”. This was the citizenship amendment bill, which later got passed in parliament and became the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Audiences throughout the world have heavily opposed this particular act. The youth of India has been protesting for several weeks against CAA and NRC (another one of BJP’s brainchild). The CAA eases the process of getting citizenship for India for all religions other than Islam. This purposeful exclusion of one religion was seen as an act against the Muslim community in India. The CAA misunderstood by many, does not affect any Muslim currently living in India., just eases the citizenship process for people from there religions.

The United Nations Human Rights Council has also intervened in the matter and stated, that “CAA” is in-favorable to a particular segment of humans based on religion. Indian Supreme Court replied by saying, “It is an internal matter and will be taken are of”.

All this chaos and disturbance is creating an environment that is not very hospitable to development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power as the face of development. These steps which are taken for the protection of Hinduism are now being taken as the steps which are against other communities and are not being welcomed the next generation which are more of the secular beliefs and who also happens to be the majority share of voters in the next 10 years. BJP should stop the politics of polarization and stick to the agenda of development.
